Denton Town 2 Uppermill Rockettes 0 (u12's) L/C
Fantastic today girls, two out of two in this competition, and now on top of the group.
Stunning goal from player of the match Emily, lobbing the keeper from her own half after just 7 mins. Go on, admit it Emily, you meant it lol. We had several chances to double our lead, but had to wait until the final minute for Kay to make the game safe.
For me, Lauren had a great game, and Teah's passing has come on a treat, with some long balls out of defence, straight to one of our players, time and time again. I'm not going to say much more, as I'll leave that to Sports Journalist of the Year Elect, Rick, to produce one of his thorough match reports.
Their no. 10 gave us loads of problems, so we gave her player of the match, and the ref merited 7/10 for an average display.
By the way, with me being there and Amy not, and you won, does that now mean that Amy's sacked and I'm back - lol?
NIGEL.

The Under 12 girls registered their 4th win in just 5 outings as they continued their remarkable run of form with a hard earned 2-0 victory over a very strong Uppermill side.
Whilst this was not the fluent display we witnessed 7 days earlier it was nevertheless another impressive result ground out by hard work and determination.
In reality this proved to be a real back to the walls fight, especially in the second half, although the contest was lit up by a moment of sheer brilliance by Emily who struck the opener with a David Beckham-like effort from her own half which flew into the roof of the Uppermill net. Take note of this moment, it is not often you'll hear me admit it, but it was a strike even better than my 25-yarder for the mens team in the afternoon!! (25 yarder - ha, bet you're a fisherman as well lol - Nigel).
It was a goal to savour and one Emily thoroughly deserves for her hard work in recent weeks both in training and in the Saturday fixtures.
The first half was pretty much an equal affair, Denton possibly slightly shading it. Defensively they looked very strong once again with Teah employed in the deeper role covering Emily. These two were very rarely beaten although on the occasion that Uppermill found themselves with a sight at goal Hannah was well up to the task of saving everything they had to offer and fully deserved a clean sheet. The starting midfield trio each covered every blade of astro-turf battling for the cause. Kendall is maturing into a key player and her ability to adapt between the central midfield position and in defence is a real bonus to Amy and I. Her performances recently show much consistency and she was vital to this victory as she made numerous interceptions, blocks and tackles to ensure a clean sheet. Although Emily was awarded the player of the match vote by the opposition she must have been run very close for the accolade by Lauren who was absolutely superb through-out. Although usually applauded for her attacking skills Lauren took up some clever defensive positions to thwart Uppermill forays into the Denton half and on more than one occasion made essential clearances to divert the danger. Her forward play, as always, was also to be admired. She thudded a shot off the underside of the crossbar in the first half having connected with Emily's long throw-in and then, in the dying moments of the match, and with the result very much hanging in the balance, she broke away down the left flank and crossed for Kay to wrap up the victory with a trademark finish.
Georgia, the remaining member of the midfield starters, also covered the length and breadth of the pitch on her return to the team. Both Georgia and Kylie, when she entered the action, were somewhat restricted from enjoying their usual freedom in supporting Kay in attack but both sacrificed this for the good of the team and in helping their defence to weather the storm in the second half as Uppermill saught the equaliser.
Consequently Kay was asked to do that extra bit more and, as expected, excelled at the challenge, even dropping into an unfamiliar midfield role at one stage to assist. Her late goal was just rewards for her patience.
Finally a quick note regarding Katie who returned to the squad following a month or so absence. This was a difficult match for Katie to be asked to make her comeback as it was a tough battle in the closing stages. She was asked to fill a position she has never previously played and she deserves credit for helping the team. The other girls each have far more match experience and she will have to be patient. I have confidence that she will continue to improve and must say I was impressed with her technique during Thursday nights training session.
Rick's Player of the Match: Close contest between 3 girls but Lauren just edges it this week. Goal of the Century: Emily
P.S. Teah - I had your ring. Sold it for 50p, will split it with you 25p each on Thursday.
RICK.
