Denton Town 5 Hillgate Blue 1 - u13's

Hillgate may be bottom of the league, but they didn't show that today. They were physical, and played some nice football. True, you can say we had loads of chances, but chances need to be taken, especially against the tougher teams.

Too much letting the ball bounce, and not going to the ball today, although the strong wind didn't help. Fantastic free kick by Chloe B, sending the ball into the top of the net, and good to see Sam on the scoresheet again, who is now joint 3rd top scorer with Georgia - both on 9 goals.

4 mins 1-0 Chloe B
19 mins 2-0 Yoyo
23 mins 2-1
Half time
36 mins 3-1 Yoyo
51 mins 4-1 Sam
64 mins 5-1 Nat

Natalie was given player of the match today, with their GK receiving the award from us. David was as efficient as ever officiating the game.

The final push now with just six games left. Win 5 and the title is ours. Poynton next away on Sat 14th April - ko 12:30, and we play them again on Weds 18th April at home - ko 6pm or as early as possible after.
Dont forget - TRAINING - Tuesday at Egerton on the grass 6:15- 7:30.

Denton Town 0 Heyside Clarets 12 - u11's

For 20 or so minutes today, you gave Heyside a good game, which just goes to show that you have improved, and also, when you work together as a team, you CAN do it. After that, I'm afraid you lost your plot, and yes you can say Tiarna's injury was a blow, but one player does not make a team. I hope her injury isn't too bad, and that she will be back with us shortly.

On several corners, 3 Heyside players were completely unmarked, and if you just improve that part of your play, you will reduce the goals conceded, and give us more opportunity to go on the attack.

Now that we are training on the grass, I want to concentrate on defending set pieces like corners, work on holding your positions (how many of you were asked to play on the left and ended up on the right, or to play at the back only to find yourself up front?), and talking to each other - too many chasing one ball and tackling each other.

Don't be too downhearted, you are still coming off the field with a smile, and I know most of the time you give it your best.

Don't forget, training is at Egerton Park on Thurs 6:45. I'll meet you at the MUGA/astroturf, and then we will all go together to the pitches at the back of the school. Training will finish about 7:30 depending on the light. Bring your boots.

Ladies at the Double

Last Monday (26th March), our Ladies team completed a memorable double. Despite many of the ladies having to travel to Preston after a full days work, they put in a tremendous performance to overcome Preston Rangers 1-0, thanks to a goal from 'Twig' on the hour mark.

Congratulations to all the girls, and to father and son managers, Billy and Mike. Progress should now be made with promotion to the North West Womens' Regional Football League.

Have You Got A Minute?

The club is looking for a Minute Secretary to sit in on meetings and make notes, produce Agendas and write up minutes. Bascially, I'm doing it at the moment, and I'm naff at it. You won't be on your own, and on average we will probably have a meeting everyother month or so.

Full support will be given, we won't just leave you to it.

Please if anyone has the time to help me and the club out, then get in touch.

Thanks.

Nigel.

CHAMPIONS - The Men this time.

DENTON Town are the new Premier division champions and they did it in style with a 3-0 win over basement club Burnage Metro.
It is 46 years since Town last won the championship when they were Bradford Parish and they fully deserve the title as they remain unbeaten.
Club chairman Geoff Gable, who played in the last championship winning team in 1961, said: "It has been a great effort by manager Mark Caudwell and his team and now we look for the treble of Rhodes Cup and SE Woollam Aggregate Trophy in the rest of season.
Metro showed their battling qualities to keep the score goalless at the break but a vital strike from the prolific Mike Knowles released the tension as victory and the title were sealed with goals from Rick Cartner and Carl Jackson.

Lets hope the 13's girls can add to the Denton Town Champions List.

Denton Town 3 Wythenshawe Amateurs 1 (u13's)

DENTON TAKE POLE POSITION!

This was another BIG BIG WIN. We're now in 1st place, and need to fight to stay there. Everyone will be out to knock us off our pedestal, so be prepared for a battle, starting next week vs. Deans at ours.

Everyone put it in today, particularly the midfield, who weren't afraid to show their muscle. Fair result I thought, but we missed a few good chances to make it more. As you know, the Ams are a great side, and if we hadn't been on top of our game, we could of been punished, but you all rose to the occasion, and need to do it again next week. Great strike from far out by Chloe B to put us ahead, with Yoyo moving in quickly just to make sure. Kayleigh, who by now must have a degree in penalty taking, made no mistake whatsoever in hitting the onion bag, and great work by Nat for the 3rd to seal the points.

Player of the match for us was Kayleigh, and for them the no. 10 Brooks, though Alan said I should of given it to their keeper (but what does he know ? LOL). Dave the ref didn't put a foot wrong either in our match or the 11's, so both myself and Ian from Ams gave him 10/10.

The stats are:-

Half-time 0-0

37 mins 1-0 Chloe B

44 mins 2-0 Kay (Pen)

55 mins 3-0 Nat

60 mins 3-1.

Denton Town 9 Hollingworth 1 (u12's)

DENTON WIN RUNNERS' UP SPOT!

WELL DONE GIRLS. You did it 2nd place in the league and another trophy in the cabinet. You played well today, but we can still play better. Every one of you did your job today and im very proud of you and im sure all your parents are. Well done to Danny on getting 4 goals and man of the match off hollingworth. Well done to Keely for getting man of the match off us.Lucy got two great goals again today Sophie C got a goal,Becks got one as well and seemed to be every where. 2nd half Sophie B steppped up to the mark and went in goal and did really well (never mind about the goal) she made a few good saves, that left Beth to go upfront and after a few close misses finally got her 2nd goal of the season after making a fine save in the first half to keep the score level at 0-0.
Well we got to look to the League cup final now and we so want to win that dont we, and we can if you all put your minds to it just keep saying to yourselves WERE AS GOOD AS CITY if you all play your best we can beat them.
We missed you Megan and Katie hope you get better soon Megan and hope to see you both at training.
Finally A BIG WELL DONE to the u10s for winning their semi-final and good luck for the rest of the season, hope you keep 2nd place now youve got it. Cannt believe weve got two teams in Finals and with chances of second place, maybe we`ll get first places next season.
Anyway Well done to everyone who plays for a Denton Town girls team lets hope were all still playing for Denton Town next season because weve got a good bunch of girls and it would be a shame to lose any of you.

Denton Town 10 Droylsden 4 - I think (U11's)

Played at Armadale Rd, Dukinfield.

I hope you all enjoyed this friendly on a much bigger pitch than you're use to. We arranged it just to give you a taste of playing football on a bigger area, as well as a break for both the Denton and Droylsden girls from the pressures of the league.

Our goals were scored by Prossy (5 and player of the match), Tiarna (1), Monique, I mean Pinky (1), Kelsie (1) and Hannah (2). Everyone worked really hard, though some of you looked lost in all that space. Special thanks to the under 13's who guested for Droylsden, especially Sam who played all the match and scored a great goal. Thanks to Chloe B for going in nets for Droylsden and gifting us two goals (haha), and Natalie who made an appearance late on, and scored for the Bloods (that's Droylsden's nickname).

Finally, thank you to Lacette and the Droylsden girls for agreeing to play us today.

Stockport County 3 Denton Town 5 (U12's)

well girls we won but it wasnt easy was it and thats all credit to stockport county who were so improved from the previous two games we played against them. i think we were a bit shell shocked in the beginning especially when they scored, but all credit to you you all battled today, Megan ran her socks off again and deserved her goal, well done to Becks on getting her hat-trick and lucy got another goal your all catching danny up (we missed you danny).a big well done to Keely for her double man of the match.Sophie b made some really important tackles and Beth made some good saves, Katie played well upfront when she was on and Sophie c came close to scoring a couple of times. It was a good match to watch. I do think though that we didnt play as well as we can, there were times when we couldnt be bothered and we cannt afford to be like that. We need every player to play as well as they can. Well i ll just say well done again and lets hope we beat Hollingworth in the next game.

ps, "COME ON CITY" CTID sorry Allen
good luck to MANCHESTER CITY who play Blackburn Rovers (WHO?) tomorrow

Deans 1 Denton Town 2 (U13's)

I'm soooo HAPPY!. Raise The Roof 1 Was that SWEET or REALLY SWEET? I feel for Deans because it is awful to lose that way (remember Flixton), but after last week's bitter disappointment of being dumped out of the cup, made today all the more special. At 1-0 me and Phil thought we were in for a repeat of last week, and despite our chances, the ball just wouldn't go in. Until of course Nat's terrific strike 12 mins into the 2nd half. Maybe a bit of luck with that one, as Deans were claiming handball, but just for once, Lady Luck was on our side, and the goal stood.
At one each it was anybodies game, with chances at both ends, but what about the cross in front of their open net late on, that needed just the faintest of touches to go in, or the mad scramble in their penalty area, where I think (what seemed like) 10 players all had a touch - if anyone in the crowd had heart problems, perhaps they had better miss the next one.
After being subbed and then coming back on, Yoyo was back to her usual self, chasing after the ball, even when she only had the remotest of chances to get to it. Just reward in the dying seconds when she cooly slotted home the winner, to send all from Denton wild with delight.
Got to say, the effort from everyone was 1000% up on last week, and you got your just rewards. Not over yet though, Wythenshawe Ams next week, and Deans again the week after, and then next month, Poynton twice and Urmston Meadowside. Certainly not easy, but its in our hands now, and a win next week will see us in pole position.
Well done to Kayleigh for being awarded player of the match, and also Lauren for really getting stuck in. For them No.10, though that No7. was dangerous, and their keeper is one of the best I've seen. The ref struggled, and I gave him 7/10. Offered him some encouragement at the end, especially when I found out he was only 15. The goals went: -
21 mins 0-1 bit of a melee in the penalty area, that we couldn't clear.
47 mins 1-1 Nat
70 mins 2-1 Yoyo

Players of the Month - February

Sorry this announcement is a little late, but I've been a bit pre-occupied recently.

Anyway, big round of applause for Tiana Davidson (U11's) and Sally Tattersall (u13's and 2nd month running), for being awarded Players of the Month for February 2007.

Excellent girls, and thoroughly deserved.

We Are The Champions!

I know this site is for the girls' teams, but I just want everybody to know that our Ladies team have just won the Lancs League by 5 points, only losing 1 game. They are also in the final vs. Preston Rangers on 24th March.

The ladies will now be promoted to what is called 'the Pyramid' system, in the North West Counties League.

Congratulations to Mike, Billy, Gary and all the girls for a fantastic job, and best of luck vs. Preston.

Deans 1 Denton Town 0 - Semi-Final (U13's)

Well girls, like you, I'm gutted. Two years running we have won the cup, but unfortunately, this wasn't our year. Just spoken to Deans' manager, Anthony, and he said "it was a shame any team had to lose, as it was a great game". Their goal came in the 59th min, with a deflection off Kayleigh. I felt for you Kay, but at the end of the day, the ball should of been cleared from our penalty area before it reached you, and it can happen to anyone - we win as a team, and lose as a team, its that simple. Next week we've got them at our place, so time for a bit of payback.

Player of the match for us was Natalie, for them no.7 - great player. Gave the ref 7/10. He missed a few handballs, and didn't give players enough protection.

Thanks Phil, for arranging for Chris Eagles of Manchester United to come down. Chris has been on loan at Sheff. Wed and Watford, but now back at OT hoping to impress Sir Alex. He actually played 7 games for the 1st team back in 2004/5, and is definitely one for the future. Good of him to sign 15 autographs and pose for the photo as well. He said he would like to come back and watch you all again - so you must of impressed him. Hope you like the photo, if anyone has a better one, email me with it, and will post.
